Sox in Atlanta, Game 2

Today was our last day of our mini baseball road trip. We took a quick tour of Athens, stopped at Walmart to pick up some necessities for the game(a water fan, towels for Andy and a cooler to carry our frozen waters!). We were going prepared today, it was going to be another hot one!

We took a quick tour of the Coca-Cola factory.

In our second game, we sat in the upper deck again, this time out in right field. It was warmer, but less humid today. The Sox lost this game 2-1.

Sox in Atlanta

We drove the five hours from Gainesville to Atlanta. It was so hot out, 100+ and humid.
Welcome to Georgia.

Andy was already hot.

We parked in a lot right outside the stadium, and walked to the main entrance and met up with Ian and Colby.

We sat in the upper deck, 3rd base side. Our seats were decent, and thankfully in the shade so it wasn't bad at all.

Although Andy almost died in the heat, he had to go stand underneath in the shade for most of the game.

Andy overheating.
Sox ended up winning the game, 1-0. Lots of Sox fans!

Unlike Boston, there is some crowd control after games!
We drove back to Ian & Colby's after and spent the night.

Tampa - Rays v. Marlins

We drove the four hours from Miami to Tampa, when we arrived in Tampa we went to the stadium and bought tickets for that nights game. We had a quick visit with Gramp & Emma and then went to the stadium.

We made reservations for dinner at the Batter's Eye, the restaurant in dead center at Tropicana, so we got the field early.

The parking at the field was $15, but free if you had four or more in your car, great deal! We started at a table inside the restaurant, but then the waitress told us we could go sit outside, in the park itself. We moved out and ate dinner and watched BP from the table.

After dinner, we wandered to our seats. Along the way we stopped at the tank & pet the rays.

Our seats were in right center, third row, we spent $17 on them. Not bad for a day of game purchase!

We had a crazy guy that sat behind us, he was born in Massachusetts in the 1920s. He had a huge cowbell, which was unique to this ballpark. Everyone seemed to have one! Underneath, in the concourse area, it was like a carnival, there were lots of games for the kids and it was really lively. The game was a good game, the Rays ended up winning 7-3. Some exciting things about the game; I got a ball during BP, a fan in front of us caught a homerun, and our row won free sodas because of some race on the field in between innings.

The game got over late, and after we drove the 2 hours to Gainesville where we stayed the night.

Miami...

Andy, Dee, Sonia and I flew to Miami for a mini baseball roadtrip through Florida and Georgia. We stayed in Hollywood, Florida at a somewhat sketchy place. We ate at local place and killed some time at the beach before we headed south for the Marlins v. Orioles game.

Landshark Stadium is also where the Dolphins play, the stadium has a huge parking lot right there to tailgate for football, but baseball was a different story. The lot was empty.

We had purchased our tickets online, we bought the cheap seats for $15. When we go there, the upper section was closed and we were not allowed to go out there. So then we figured we could sit anywhere so we tried to go to a lower section and the usher stopped us and told us we had to sit in the 400s and could not sit lower. We tried to tell her that our section was closed but she wouldn't listen to us. We ended up finding a customer service area and they upgraded our seats to 10 rows back right by first base. They were unbelievable seats!

The game was decent, the Marlins broke the game open late and ended up winning 11-3. Hanley Ramirez hit a grand slam in the 8th. The entire stadium scene was really interesting....attendance was minimal and the fans stayed til the end despite the lopsided score. This was the first baseball stadium we have ever been to that had cheerleaders! There was nothing special to buy, no souvenir cups, nothing that was special to the stadium. Most of the food stands were not open, and those that were, were very expensive.
