Our last full day of our vacation started at 3:30am when we got up and caught the taxi to the airport in Punta Arenas. We both slept the entire flight to Santiago, so when we got here we were good to go. We wandered around the city exploring for the day, the highlight included a ride up the Funicular up to the top of a big hill that overlooked the city and the Andes. Like Buenos Aires, Santiago had many wild dogs. But It was much cleaner and nicer than Buenos Aires.
On the final day, we left the hostel at noon for the airport. We first had to fly to Buenos Aires. We arrived at EZE at 4:30pm to find that instead of our 5 hour layover, our flight to Dallas was delayed and we now had a 7 hour wait. That meant that we were going to miss our flight from Dallas to Boston. Thankfully, American Airlines had already put us on a flight 2 hours later. Our flight to Dallas was on a really crappy plane. No individual tvs (which is kind of unheard of on 10 hour flights!) and just bad service overall. Again reaffirming to us that we would never fly that airline internationally again! We landed in Boston around 3pm, exchanged the dogs and car with Mom and Dad, and then we drove north to Conway. Arriving just after 8pm after a very long travel day!
All in all, the trip went well. We both really enjoyed the hiking part of it the best. It is hard to believe that just the other day we were at "el fin del Mundo" (the end of the earth)!
