Cappadocia

Crazy scenery in Cappadocia.
The bus ride turned out to be pretty exciting. We had to change lines just outside Istanbul, but there was a huge backup and we had to get out of our bus and hustle up a hill with others doing the same. Finally feeling relaxed on the night bus, we became a bit worried when our bus rumbled to a stop on the side of the highway. We sat there for about 45 minutes before they were able to get it going. A little nerve wracking at 1 am. Once we continued on we stopped about three hours in at a rest area. That in itself was an experience. The bathrooms are literally a hole in the ground with a drain (with two little spots for feet on either side). I am just as disappointed as you are that Brit didn't get a picture. Thankfully the rest of the ride was uneventful.
Today after checking into our hotel we visited the Goreme Open-Air Museum which was quite unbelievable. The views in Cappadocia are really amazing. We then got on a bus to get back to our hostel. Unfortunately, there is a bit of a language barrier here. We found ourselves sitting on the bus to the end of the line by ourselves waiting for it to head the other direction. It was a fun little screw up that our bus driver felt bad for us about. In fact, he gave us both a piece of fruit he picked off a tree. Not sure what it was, but it had a hint of kiwi... And it wasn't kiwi. Afterwards we had a nice dinner, and are now regrouping before crashing. Tomorrow nite we cancelled our second night in the hotel to take another overnight bus ride because we loved the first experience so much!
